Protein Oatmeal Bowl
I am definitely a breakfast phase kind of girl, and let me tell ya… these protein oatmeal bowls are hard to get tired of! Healthy carbohydrates, fat, and protein makes for an ideal breakfast, and these oats have all three!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup quick or rolled oats
1 cup milk of choice
2 Tbsp ground flax seed [Fiber!]
1 scoop protein powder
1/4 cup egg whites [optional but adds protein and fluffy texture!]
Directions:
Add oats and 2/3 cup milk to a bowl and microwave for 1.5 minutes.
Remove bowl from microwave and add in egg whites. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time to ensure no clumps form.
Once oats are well combined, add in ground flax seed and protein powder and stir until creamy consistency forms. This is the step where I add additional milk if needed to form a good consistency and ensure it is not too thick.
Toppings
Fruit! Berries are an easy way to get in some fiber early in the morning! My favorites are strawberries and frozen wild blueberries [which turn your oats purple]
Nut Butter! I personally love cashew butter from Georgia Grinders best, but I don’t discriminate! Nut butters provide our bodies with healthy fats to provide satiety.
Granola! Texture person? Granola adds the perfect crunch on top of oatmeal bowls. I love Purely Elizabeth or my homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Granola!
